Protection of Intangible Assets

Safeguarding the investment made in building or acquiring proprietary technology as a life-long, appreciating asset is crucial.

Global connectedness today poses a significant challenge to this aim due to the possibility of several threats to the security of these assets.

Recourse through global governing bodies is often time and cost inefficient, which is why we strongly advise on conducting regular risk assessments with regards to
  • Technology and intellectual property (IP)
  • IP licensing
  • Patents and trademarking
  • Cybersquatting
  • Piracy threats
  • Corporate espionage
  • Data leaks
  • Regulations of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

ARBITRATION

A Cost-Effective Alternative Dispute Resolution

Arbitration is a form of out-of-court dispute settlement, a private process where a neutral and independent third-party a sole arbitrator or an arbitral tribunal is summoned to settle a dispute between two or more parties.

There must always be an uneven number of arbitrators to every dispute.

According to the Qatar Arbitration Law, an arbitral tribunal is composed of three arbitrators by default unless parties agree otherwise.

At the outset of the arbitral process, opposing parties agree to be bound by the tribunal’s decision through an arbitration agreement.

During proceedings, arbitrators carefully listen to each side as they present their arguments, relevant evidence and testimonies on which a binding decision is made.
